Closing out 2025 at MMSS
Christmas Closure Dates
Our office will be Closed from 12PM Friday 19 December and will Reopen on Monday 5 January.
However, all essential services will continue.
Our support workers will still be out in the community completing scheduled shifts for anyone requiring care during this period. While the office team takes a short break, the care doesn’t stop.
If you have questions about your roster or support over the Christmas period, please get in touch before our closure dates so our team can assist you.
As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on what has been a year of change, growth, and community connection at Mid Murray Support Service. From new programs to transitions behind the scenes, it’s been a big year, and we want to thank every care recipient, carer, volunteer, staff member, and community partner who has walked alongside us.
The introduction of the new Support at Home Program can raise some concerns. However, when your budget is managed wisely through education and better long-term planning, you can enjoy more independence and consistent in-home support. The team at Mid Murray Support Service provide personalised care and peace of mind through our local knowledge and transparent communication. We currently have the capacity to take on more Support at Home Program clients, and we would love to have the opportunity to chat with you if you have any concerns.
A Year of Change, Progress & Community
This year has brought several shifts across our organisation, many of which will help us continue providing flexible, person-centred supports into 2026 and beyond. We’ve undertaken some great renovations to The HUB and increased our vehicle fleet. We also said goodbye to Scrooges Country Treasures and our in-house kitchen. We now partner with local business Retro Catering Co. to provide nutritious, value-for-money meals within the community.
A Growing Year for Social Connection
Our Social Support Groups, craft activities, and outings have been full of laughter, creativity, and incredible participation. From market visits to museum stops, movie days, and craft mornings, our groups continue to grow, and next year’s calendars are shaping up beautifully.
We are finalising the 2026 Group Social Support Calendars now, and they will soon be available on our website and social media for everyone to view and plan ahead.
Practical December Tip – Keep It Simple
Plan for pockets of rest.
December can feel like a marathon of shopping, cooking, gatherings, and last-minute rushing. Try choosing one small thing each week that makes life easier—like prepping a simple meal, setting aside a no-plans evening, or organising a shared shopping list with a friend.
A little planning goes a long way to creating a calmer Christmas.
Your December Giggle
Q: What happened to the frog that parked in the wrong zone?
A: His car was TOAD.
Thank You, Mannum
Thank you to our amazing community for your support, patience, and kindness throughout 2025—especially during times of transition and change. We look forward to continuing to serve, support, and connect with you in 2026.
From all of us at Mid Murray Support Service, we wish you a safe, joyful, and relaxing festive season.
