November Update for MMSS
As 2025 draws to a close, Mid Murray Support Service is wrapping up another big year of care, connection, and community. October brought a number of transitions, celebrations and farewells, all while continuing to meet the increasing demand for in-home aged and disability care across our region.
Our recent transition to Retro Catering for care recipient meals is going strong. We've already seen a significant increase in meal sales, as more people take advantage of the expanded menu options and weekly deliveries. Like all new partnerships, there can be the occasional teething problem, but we’re working closely with the Retro team to keep the freezers well-stocked with weekly refills. We thank everyone for their patience as we continue to improve this important service.
On October 5th, we officially closed the doors at Scrooges Country Treasures. This heartfelt farewell marks the end of an era, and we want to thank every volunteer, shopper and supporter who helped make Scrooges such a special part of our community. Looking ahead, MMSS will continue to focus on what we do best, delivering high-quality aged and disability in-home care, and advocating for those who fall through the gaps.
Also in October, we hosted our Ageing Well Day event at The HUB. Eighteen attendees joined us for a valuable session exploring the proposed changes in the aged care system, including the shift to the new Support at Home model. If you missed the session but want to learn more about how these changes could affect you or a loved one, our team is here to help. Just give us a call.
With the festive season fast approaching, we’d like to share our Christmas closure details. MMSS will close from 12:30pm on Friday, 19th December 2025, and reopen on Monday, 5th January 2026 at 9:00am. Essential supports will continue to operate over this period; however, group programs will pause during January. The only group activity running in January will be Bend and Stretch, with dates to be confirmed.
Before we sign off for the year, we’ve got two much-loved events coming up. On Tuesday, 3rd December, we’ll be heading off on our annual TTP Christmas Shopping Trip, with bookings being essential. Then on Wednesday, 18th December, join us for our end-of-year Christmas HUB Lunch and Raffle Draw at the Mannum Community Club. This is always a highlight of the year, so be sure to book your place early.
As always, if you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the changes in aged care, would like support navigating the system, or just wants to connect with a friendly face, we’re here to help.
Tip of the Month:
Check expiry dates on pantry items before the summer heat sets in. It’s a great time to clear out the back of the cupboard and safely dispose of any outdated items, especially baking goods and canned goods. You’ll free up space and be ready for festive cooking!
And now for a giggle…
